OTF1500XII Two-Zone Split Tube Furnace with 80 mm Alumina Tube and Flange

The OTF1500XII furnace is engineered for laboratory applications requiring controlled atmosphere heat treatment up to 1500°C. It is particularly suited for processes demanding precise temperature control across two separate zones, enabling uniform heating or distinct temperature profiles within the same tube. The split tube design facilitates easy replacement or exchange of processing tubes, supporting versatile experimental setups.

This model incorporates an 80 mm outer diameter alumina ceramic tube, 1000 mm in length, housed within a stainless steel vacuum sealing flange equipped with a valve and meter for controlled atmosphere or vacuum conditions. The furnace supports vacuum levels down to 10-5 torr with appropriate pumps and is compatible with optional mullite tubes. Two heating zones, each 200 mm long separated by a 20 mm gap, provide a total heated length of 390 mm with a constant temperature zone of 200 mm when zones are set identically.

Key Features

  • Maximum temperature up to 1500°C for short durations; continuous operation at 1400°C.
  • Two independent PID temperature controllers with 30 programmable segments each for precise ramping and dwell control.
  • ±1°C temperature accuracy using dual S-type thermocouples, one per zone.
  • Includes an 80 mm OD alumina tube and stainless steel vacuum flange with valve and meter.
  • Supports vacuum operation down to 10-5 torr with molecular pump compatibility.
  • Optional PC control module available for advanced temperature profile management and remote operation.
  • Heating elements are 16 silicon carbide rods rated for 1500°C; consumable and replaceable.

Typical Applications

Ideal for materials research, thin film processing, vacuum annealing, sintering, and other high-temperature treatments requiring precise temperature zoning and controlled atmospheres. The split tube design allows quick tube changes for multi-purpose laboratory workflows.

Configuration & Operating Notes

The furnace includes thermal blocks and a stainless steel vacuum flange with valve and meter. An optional flange support is available to prevent tube rotation during operation. For safe vacuum and gas flow operation, a two-stage pressure regulator must be installed to limit gas pressure below 3 PSI. Avoid heating with the gas release valve closed under positive pressure to prevent damage. The heating elements are consumable and should be replaced as needed. PC control modules and laptops with LabVIEW-based software can be ordered separately for enhanced control and data logging.
