OTF1200XSL50 Automated Sliding Tube Furnace with 2″ OD Quartz Tube, Up to 1200°C, Fast Heating and Cooling

The OTF1200XSL50 is engineered for laboratory applications requiring rapid thermal cycling and precise temperature control within a controlled atmosphere. It incorporates a 2-inch outer diameter fused quartz processing tube, 36 inches in length, designed to accommodate samples requiring uniform heating up to 1200°C. This furnace is particularly suited for processes where fast heating and cooling rates are critical, such as material synthesis, annealing, or thermal treatment under vacuum or controlled gas environments.

Its defining feature is an automated sliding mechanism that moves the furnace body along a single rail. This allows the furnace to be preheated on one side before sliding over the sample position, enabling heating rates exceeding 100°C per minute. Similarly, after heating, the furnace can slide away from the sample to expose it to ambient air for rapid cooling. This sliding operation is programmable and can be executed once per heating cycle, optimizing throughput and thermal profile control.

Key Features

  • Maximum operating temperature of 1200°C with stable temperature control ±1°C in a 2.3″ constant temperature zone.
  • 2″ OD x 36″ length high purity fused quartz tube with included ceramic foam blocks to protect O-rings from heat radiation.
  • Programmable temperature controller supporting 30 segments for heating, cooling, and dwell times with built-in over-temperature protection.
  • Automated sliding rail system driven by an electric motor for fast heating and cooling cycles.
  • Double-layer steel furnace structure with cooling fans maintaining surface temperature below 70°C.
  • Vacuum-sealed flanges with stainless steel needle valves and pressure gauge included; vacuum capability down to 10^-5 torr with appropriate pumps.
  • Optional remote control and LabVIEW-based software for temperature profile editing and data logging.

Typical Applications

Ideal for rapid thermal processing tasks such as annealing, sintering, oxidation, and material synthesis requiring fast temperature ramping and controlled atmosphere conditions. Suitable for research in materials science, semiconductor processing, and chemical vapor deposition experiments.

Configuration & Operating Notes

The furnace includes hermetic flanges with pressure gauges and stainless steel needle valves for immediate vacuum or gas environment use. Foam ceramic blocks are supplied to protect O-rings from heat radiation damage and must be installed inside the quartz tube. The automated sliding movement is limited to one operation per heating cycle to ensure safety and mechanical integrity. Optional accessories include remote control software and communication interfaces for enhanced process management. Users should ensure proper ventilation and cooling fan operation to maintain safe surface temperatures.
