MSK-USP-02 Bench-Top Ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis Coating Unit with 6″x6″ Heating Plate up to 500°C and Precise Software Control

The MSK-USP-02 is engineered for laboratory-scale thin film deposition using ultrasonic spray pyrolysis, a technique where a solution is atomized and sprayed onto a heated substrate to form chemical compounds such as oxides. This process is particularly effective for producing uniform transparent conductive oxide films like tin oxide on glass and is increasingly applied in fabricating perovskite thin films for solar cell research.

This compact desktop system integrates precise control of solution dispensing and spray head movement through dedicated software. The ultrasonic spray head generates fine droplets, while stepper motor-driven linear stages enable uniform coating by moving the spray nozzle in X and Y directions. The substrate heater plate measures 150 mm by 150 mm and can be independently controlled up to 500°C, supporting a variety of coating processes.

Key Features

  • Ultrasonic spray head operating at 40 kHz producing droplets averaging 50 microns for thin, uniform films.
  • Stepper motor actuators control X-Y spray head movement over a maximum traverse of 200 mm by 235 mm.
  • Multiple spray heads included: ultrasonic, compressed air assisted, and optional quartz glass nozzle for varied coating thickness and area.
  • Adjustable dispensing rates from 20 μL/min to 20 mL/min via software control, with 50 mL and 250 mL container capacities.
  • Substrate heater plate capable of reaching temperatures up to 500°C with independent temperature control.
  • Compact air compressor included to provide compressed air at approximately 4 bar for spray shaping and velocity control.
  • Centralized software interface for controlling dispensing, spray head movement, and process parameter storage.

Typical Applications

The MSK-USP-02 is suited for research and development of thin film coatings, especially oxide films such as tin oxide for transparent conductive layers. It is widely used in perovskite solar cell fabrication and other applications requiring uniform thin films on heated substrates. The system supports experimentation with coating parameters to optimize film quality and properties.

Configuration & Operating Notes

The unit includes three spray heads for different coating needs and two dispensing containers. A compact air compressor is supplied for immediate operation, but if using an external gas cylinder, a two-stage pressure regulator must be installed for safety. The software allows saving and recalling process parameters for reproducibility. Users should observe safety precautions when handling hazardous materials, as the chamber is not flameproof or vacuum sealed.
