MSK-AFA-MC200 Small Roll-to-Roll Coater with Optional Blade, Slot Die, Micro Gravure Coating and Laminating Capabilities

The MSK-AFA-MC200 is engineered for laboratory-scale roll-to-roll coating and calendaring processes, enabling precise application of thin films onto flexible substrates such as copper, aluminum, PET, PP, and PE films. This system accommodates a variety of coating heads, allowing users to select the most suitable method for their slurry and film requirements, including doctor blade, slot die, and micro gravure techniques.

The coater supports coating widths up to 180 mm and lengths up to 5000 mm on a single side, with a maximum reel diameter of 250 mm. It features a precision tension roller (~1N) and alignment device to maintain consistent film handling. Optional drying mechanisms include convection heating, infrared heating, and UV curing, enabling tailored drying processes depending on the coating material and substrate.

Key Features

  • Multiple coating heads available: doctor blade (reverse comma blade), slot die, and micro gravure for versatile coating thickness and precision.
  • Doctor blade suitable for coatings from 10 to 200 microns thickness with ±5 μm precision.
  • Slot die capable of uniform coatings from 1 micron (dried film) with ±1% precision, covering widths up to 150 mm.
  • Micro gravure ideal for thin coatings from 2–3 microns with continuous and intermittent coating modes.
  • Optional drying systems: convection heating (up to 150°C), infrared heating, and customizable UV curing lamps.
  • Optional laminating and calendaring modules with precise thickness adjustment (0.5–2 mm) and roller surface finish Ra <0.4.
  • CE certified electrical components with UL/MET/CSA certifications; NRTL or CSA certification available on request.

Typical Applications

The MSK-AFA-MC200 is suitable for research and development of thin film coatings in battery electrode fabrication, flexible electronics, membrane coatings, and other advanced material applications requiring precise control of coating thickness and uniformity on flexible substrates.

Configuration & Operating Notes

The system includes an MSK-155 auto-slurry feeder with a 2-liter tank for doctor blade and micro gravure coating heads. For slot die coating, an optional MSK-156 slurry feeding screw pump with a 4-liter tank is recommended for intermittent coating modes. The coater offers selectable continuous and intermittent coating modes via the control panel. Optional laminating and calendaring units can be integrated based on user requirements. Safety precautions include using a two-stage pressure regulator when operating with gas cylinders and ensuring proper electrical installation compliant with CE and UL/MET/CSA standards.
