MSK-AFA-EP200 Roll-to-Roll Electrochemical Intercalation and Exfoliation System for Continuous Production of Two-Dimensional Flakes
The MSK-AFA-EP200 is engineered to enable continuous manufacturing of two-dimensional (2D) flakes from bulk films using a two-step electrochemical process. This system unwinds a bulk 2D film from a roller and passes it through two sequential chemical baths to achieve intercalation and exfoliation, facilitating efficient production of 2D material dispersions.
Initially, the substrate film is fed into the first bath containing a strong acid or base solution with an intercalator. Under a high voltage ranging from 10 to 1000 volts, electrochemical intercalation occurs, inserting ions between layers of the bulk material. Subsequently, the film moves to the second bath, also containing a strong acid or base, where electrochemical exfoliation separates the layers, resulting in a 2D flakes solution.
