IMCS160010L Atmosphere Controlled Induction Melting-Casting System with 10 L Graphite Crucible

The IMCS160010L system is engineered for laboratory-scale melting and casting of various metal alloys requiring precise atmosphere control. It enables melting under inert gas or vacuum conditions up to 1 torr, minimizing oxidation and contamination during processing. This system is ideal for research and development tasks involving sensitive metals and alloys that demand controlled melting environments.

At its core, the system utilizes a 10-liter graphite crucible (215 mm diameter by 300 mm height) housed within a water-cooled induction heating chamber. The induction coil has 18 turns and is water-cooled to ensure uniform heating and temperature stability up to 1600°C. A pneumatic graphite stopper facilitates pressurized casting at approximately 20 psig, enabling controlled melt flow into molds.

Key Features

  • Water-cooled 18-turn induction coil for uniform heating and temperature control up to 1600°C.
  • Atmosphere-controlled casting chamber with vacuum capability down to 1 torr and inert gas flow (nitrogen or argon).
  • Pneumatic graphite stopper enabling pressurized casting (~20 psig) for precise melt delivery.
  • Programmable temperature controller supporting up to 20 segments for complex thermal profiles.
  • Optional mechanical stirring and secondary material dosing available upon request.
  • Optional water-cooled split copper molds for enhanced cooling and oxidation reduction during casting.

Typical Applications

This system is suited for melting and casting research on metal alloys sensitive to oxidation, such as steels, superalloys, and specialty metals. It supports controlled atmosphere processing for producing high-purity ingots and experimental castings in materials science and metallurgy labs.

Configuration & Operating Notes

The standard package includes the induction heating and casting chambers, graphite crucible, pneumatic stopper, vacuum pump, and programmable temperature controller. Mechanical stirring and secondary material dosing systems are optional and can be added upon request. Casting molds are not included and must be sourced separately; customized water-cooled copper molds are available optionally to improve cooling rates and reduce oxidation during casting. A water circulator for cooling the coil and chambers is required but not supplied. Compressed air supply is necessary for pneumatic operations; an optional air compressor can be provided.
