The MSK-AFA-HDS-150 is engineered to facilitate advanced thin film coating tasks essential in research areas such as perovskite solar cells, proton exchange membranes for fuel cells, and battery electrode fabrication. It enables precise application of films ranging from 5 to 100 microns in thickness over widths of 100 to 150 mm and lengths up to 320 mm, accommodating both tape and slot-die coating methods.
This hybrid coater integrates a vacuum chuck made from aluminum alloy with a fine perforation pattern (<1.0 mm holes) to securely hold substrates during coating. The chuck dimensions are 200 mm wide by 365 mm long and it is equipped with a bottom heater controlled digitally to maintain temperatures up to 120°C with ±1°C accuracy. The coating head combines a fixed 150 mm wide doctor blade and a removable 100 mm wide slot die, both allowing micrometer-level gap adjustments for film thickness control.
