GSL-1700X-50VTB Hybrid High Temperature Tube and Box Furnace with 2″ Alumina Tube, Up to 1700°C
The GSL-1700X-50VTB is engineered for demanding thermal processing tasks requiring both vacuum and atmospheric control environments. It combines a box furnace’s spacious heating chamber with a top-inserted 2-inch diameter alumina tube, enabling versatile heat treatment of new materials, including solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) coin cells. This hybrid design facilitates treatments under vacuum or controlled gas atmospheres up to a maximum temperature of 1700°C.
The furnace chamber measures 150 x 150 x 150 mm (6″ x 6″ x 6″) and is insulated with high purity 1800°C grade fibrous alumina to ensure thermal efficiency. Heating is provided by four U-shaped molybdenum disilicide (MoSi2) elements rated for 1800°C operation. The alumina processing tube, 50 mm inner diameter and 40 mm outer diameter with a length of 1000 mm, is inserted from the top and sealed with vacuum-tight flanges equipped with double silicone high-temperature O-rings, needle valves, and a vacuum gauge for immediate use.

Typical Applications
This furnace is ideal for heat treatment processes requiring precise temperature control under vacuum or controlled atmospheres, such as sintering, annealing, and testing of solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) coin cells. It is suitable for research and development of new materials and advanced ceramics.
Configuration and Operating Notes
The furnace includes vacuum-tight flanges with integrated valves and a vacuum gauge for immediate operation. Optional accessories include a PC control module (MTS-02) for remote operation via RS485 communication and various fittings such as 304SS Swagelok® tube fittings or KF25 adapters to enhance vacuum efficiency. The vacuum pump is not included and must be ordered separately. Proper insertion of ceramic tube blocks is required before heating to block heat radiation inside the tube. Built-in over-temperature alarms and protections enable unattended operation with safety.
