MSK-AFA-II-HDS250 Hybrid Film Coater with Slot Die (200 mm) and Doctor Blade (250 mm) for Precise Thin Film Application

The MSK-AFA-II-HDS250 is engineered to support advanced thin film research, particularly for applications such as perovskite solar cells, proton exchange membranes in fuel cells, and battery electrode fabrication. It facilitates precise coating of films ranging from 5 to 100 microns in thickness over substrates up to 550 mm in length and widths between 200 and 250 mm.

This hybrid coater combines two coating methods: tape coating via a doctor blade and slot-die coating, allowing versatile processing on a vacuum chuck with integrated bottom heating. The vacuum chuck, constructed from aluminum alloy with fine perforations (<1.0 mm holes), measures 609 mm by 300 mm and can be heated up to 120°C with digital temperature control maintaining ±1ºC accuracy. A vacuum pump is required but not included.

Key Features

  • Hybrid coating head with fixed PTFE doctor blade (250 mm width) and removable slot die head (200 mm width) for flexible film application.
  • Adjustable gap between coating blade and substrate with ±1 micron precision using dual digital micrometers.
  • Vacuum chuck with bottom heater up to 120°C controlled digitally for substrate temperature management.
  • Digital syringe pump included for slot-die coating, compatible with syringes up to 200 mL and multiple operating modes.
  • Variable moving speed of coating applicator from 5 to 100 mm/sec and adjustable coating length up to 550 mm.
  • Power supply selectable between 110 V or 208–240 V AC at 50/60 Hz with 2000 W power consumption.
  • Optional viscosity meter and dispersing machine available to optimize slurry parameters for improved coating quality.

Typical Applications

Ideal for coating research films in perovskite solar cell development, proton exchange membranes for fuel cells, and battery electrode fabrication requiring precise control of film thickness and uniformity.

Configuration & Operating Notes

The system requires a separately ordered vacuum pump to operate the vacuum chuck. The included digital syringe pump supports multiple infusion and withdrawal modes for slot-die coating. Optional accessories such as viscosity meters and dispersing machines are recommended to optimize slurry properties for improved coating quality. Users should ensure proper handling of heated components and maintain the vacuum chuck according to specifications.
