FMF-300 Levitation Cold Crucible Vacuum Melting Furnace for High-Purity Magnetic Alloy Research, 300 g Max Sample, 1800 °C

The FMF-300 is engineered to facilitate the melting and purification of advanced magnetic alloys and metallic materials in a vacuum environment. It supports sample sizes up to 300 grams and achieves melting temperatures as high as 1800 °C. This system is ideal for researchers aiming to produce ultra-high purity ferro or magnetic alloys without contamination.

The furnace employs a 60 kW high-frequency induction heater operating at 50-200 kHz to generate a magnetic vortex that levitates the molten metal sample inside a water-cooled copper crucible. The crucible is housed within a vacuum-sealed quartz tube, ensuring minimal contact and preventing contamination. The vacuum environment is maintained by a mechanical pump capable of reaching pressures below 5 Pa, with an optional turbopump available for ultra-high vacuum down to 5×10^-3 Pa.

Key Features

  • High-frequency induction heating (60 kW) with non-adjustable 50-200 kHz output frequency.
  • Water-cooled copper crucible (Ø45 mm ID x 52.5 mm H) designed for sample levitation and melting.
  • Vacuum-sealed quartz tube (80 mm OD x 72 mm ID x 300 mm L) with hinged top flange for easy sample loading.
  • Mechanical vacuum pump included, achieving vacuum <5 Pa; turbopump option available for higher vacuum.
  • Electrically driven crucible holder for convenient sample handling.
  • Requires high-purity argon gas atmosphere (gas supply and regulator not included).
  • Integrated water cooling system with two recirculating chillers providing >135 L/min total flow.

Typical Applications

The FMF-300 is suited for experimental development and purification of next-generation magnetic alloys, ferroalloys, and other high-purity metallic materials. It is commonly used in materials science research laboratories focusing on alloy composition optimization and contamination-free melting processes.

Configuration & Operating Notes

The system includes two water chillers (KJ6300 and KJ5300) to meet cooling requirements and a mechanical vacuum pump with exhaust filter. A turbopump for ultra-high vacuum is available optionally. The furnace requires an external high-purity argon gas supply with a pressure regulator, which is not included. The hinged top vacuum flange and electrically driven crucible holder facilitate sample loading and repeated melting cycles. Proper water cooling and vacuum conditions must be maintained to ensure stable operation and sample purity.
