VTC-500 Vacuum Melt Spinning System with Integrated Melting-Casting Function for Amorphous Metallic Ribbon Production
In addition to melt spinning, the VTC-500 includes an extra swingable induction coil within the vacuum chamber, enabling melting and casting of small ingots up to 500 grams. This dual-functionality supports both ribbon production and bulk sample casting, expanding its utility for materials research and development.
Key Features
- Stainless steel vacuum chamber with hinged door and quartz observation window (120 mm diameter) for process monitoring.
- Integrated turbo and mechanical pumps achieve vacuum levels down to 5 x 10-5 torr within 30 minutes; baking can improve vacuum to 10-7 torr.
- 300 mm diameter copper flywheel capable of spinning up to 45 meters per second (2850 RPM max) for rapid quenching.
- Adjustable crucible-to-copper wheel gap from 0 to 10 mm to optimize ribbon formation.
- Dual-station 25 kW induction heater operating at 30-80 kHz with programmable temperature profiles and precision temperature control via B-type thermocouple.
- Two standard boron nitride crucibles with different nozzle sizes included; quartz crucibles provided for vacuum casting.
- PID gas pressure regulator and solenoid valves for precise control of molten metal propulsion and chamber atmosphere management.
- Optional vacuum casting attachment and water-cooled copper molds available for bulk casting applications.

Typical Applications
The VTC-500 is ideal for research and development of amorphous metallic ribbons and bulk casting of small ingots. It supports materials with melting points below 1000°C and is suited for producing rapidly quenched alloys for magnetic, structural, and functional material studies.
Configuration & Operating Notes
The system includes a comprehensive control panel integrating temperature, induction power, flywheel speed, vacuum pumps, and gas pressure regulation. The vacuum casting function requires optional attachments such as casting crucibles and molds, which are not included by default. Users should ensure sample sizes exceed 5 mm diameter for effective melt spinning and verify material viscosity suitability for spinning. For materials with poor induction heating response, a graphite heating ring can be added externally to the BN crucible to enhance temperature.
