SP-MSM207 Compact Vacuum Arc Melting System with 7 Cavities, 250A DC Power Supply, and Water-Cooled Components

The furnace integrates a water-cooled tungsten electrode, copper hearth with seven individual cavities, and a stainless steel vacuum chamber to ensure efficient heat management and sample integrity. The inclusion of a wobble stick allows for flipping samples during re-melting, enhancing homogeneity. A tinted observation window facilitates process monitoring without compromising vacuum integrity.

Key Features

  • DC power supply delivering up to 250 A with 7000 W output and foot pedal control for precise current adjustment.
  • Water-cooled tungsten electrode (4 mm diameter) with azimuthal and vertical adjustments for multi-cavity melting.
  • Water-cooled stainless steel vacuum chamber (Φ182 mm × 225 mm H) with a 120 mm front door for easy sample handling.
  • Mechanical vacuum pressure gauge standard; optional Pirani capacitance diaphragm gauge available.
  • Optional vacuum casting fixture and customizable copper hearth available upon request.
  • Compatible with vacuum pumps achieving pressures down to 10^-5 torr when using a turbopump.

Typical Applications

The SP-MSM207 is used for melting and alloying small quantities of refractory metals and high-melting-point alloys. It supports research in materials science, metallurgy, and battery electrode development by enabling controlled melting and re-melting of samples under vacuum or inert atmospheres.

Configuration & Operating Notes

The system includes a wobble stick for flipping samples during melting cycles to improve homogeneity. Optional accessories include a vacuum casting fixture and customizable copper hearth designs. Water cooling is mandatory but not included; a recirculating water chiller such as the KJ5000 is recommended. Vacuum pumps are sold separately and determine achievable vacuum levels. Safety precautions should be observed when operating at high currents and temperatures.
