OTF1200XIISR2 Compact Two-Zone Rotary Tube Furnace with 2″ Quartz Tube, Up to 1000°C for Powder CVD and Li-Ion Battery Cathode Coating

The OTF1200XIISR2 rotary tube furnace is engineered for precise thermal processing of inorganic powders, particularly suited for chemical vapor deposition (CVD) applications and the preparation of lithium-ion battery cathode powders with conductive coatings. Its compact design integrates a 2-inch diameter quartz tube that rotates to ensure uniform heat exposure and mixing of powder samples during calcination.

This furnace features two independently controlled heating zones, each 100 mm in length, providing a total heating zone of 200 mm. The temperature stability within the constant temperature zone is maintained within ±5°C when both zones are set identically. The quartz tube is driven by a DC motor allowing variable rotation speeds from 1 to 10 RPM, enhancing homogeneity of the sample treatment. The system is designed for continuous operation at temperatures up to 1000°C.

Key Features

  • Two-zone heating with independent PID controllers and 30-segment programmable profiles.
  • 2″ fused quartz tube with four internal mixing blades and 290 ml tumbling volume.
  • Variable tube rotation speed from 1 to 10 RPM driven by a DC motor.
  • Double shell casing with high purity alumina fiber insulation and three cooling fans.
  • Inline swivel gas fittings with 1/4″ compression tube connections for gas inlet and outlet.
  • Temperature stability of ±1°C and K-type thermocouples for accurate measurement.
  • Optional stainless steel 310 tube and anti-corrosive capacitance diaphragm gauge available.

Typical Applications

This rotary tube furnace is optimized for powder calcination processes requiring uniform heat treatment and mixing, such as conductive coating deposition on lithium-ion battery cathode materials. It is also suitable for chemical vapor deposition (CVD) of powders and other inorganic material synthesis requiring controlled atmosphere and temperature profiles.

Configuration & Operating Notes

The furnace includes a split design for easy tube installation and maintenance. Inline gas swivels isolate rotation from gas connections, minimizing leak risks during operation. Optional accessories include a stainless steel 310 tube for enhanced corrosion resistance and an anti-corrosive capacitance diaphragm gauge for precise low-pressure measurements down to 3.8E-5 Torr. The unit is CE certified, with additional NRTL or CSA certification available upon request. Users should ensure proper ventilation and follow safety protocols when operating at high temperatures and with reactive gases.
