MSK-SFM-DS Compact Laboratory Disc Mill – Ring and Puck Crusher & Grinder
The MSK-SFM-DS is a compact laboratory disc mill featuring a manganese steel grinding assembly. Also known as a ring and puck mill or shatterbox-type mill, it is designed for rapid crushing and grinding of small samples before further fine milling or analysis.
Suitable for coal, ores, rocks, and ceramic compounds with a hardness below Mohs 8, the mill accommodates approximately 50 g of material in its 100 mL grinding jar. A fixed operating speed, adjustable timer, and lid safety interlock support convenient laboratory sample preparation.
Key Features
- Rapid sample preparation: Crushes and grinds suitable materials to approximately 80–200 mesh, depending on the sample and processing time.
- Manganese steel grinding components: Ring and puck assembly for crushing and pulverizing laboratory samples.
- Adjustable timer: Set the processing duration from 0 to 5 minutes.
- Lid safety interlock: Cuts power if the lid is opened during operation.
- Secure installation: Four mounting fixtures allow the mill to be fastened to a firm platform.

Operating Notes
- Install the mill on a firm, stable platform and secure it using the mounting fixtures.
- Use a separate room or suitable noise-controlled area during operation.
- Clean the grinding jar, ring, and puck before each use to reduce cross-contamination.
- Process only samples below Mohs 8 and within the specified feed dimensions.
- Keep the lid closed during operation and do not bypass the safety interlock.
- Use suitable sieves after grinding when a defined powder size fraction is required.
