MSK-SFM-ABM-LD Nano Agitator Bead Mill with Self Circulation, Ceramic Milling Chamber, and Optional 0.3 or 1.0 L Capacity
The MSK-SFM-ABM-LD series addresses the challenge of reducing solid powders to nanometer-scale particles, ranging from 2 micrometers down to 200 nanometers, through wet grinding. This compact agitator bead mill is designed to deliver highly efficient milling with a narrow particle size distribution, making it suitable for laboratories requiring precise nanoparticle preparation.
Two capacity variants are available: the MSK-SFM-ABM300-LD with a 300 mL zirconia milling chamber and the MSK-SFM-ABM1000-LD featuring a larger 1000 mL silicon carbide chamber. Both models utilize a peg grinding rotor system with a small length-to-diameter ratio to optimize milling efficiency. The milling chamber and rotor materials are selected for wear and corrosion resistance, enabling metal-free processing and preserving sample purity.
Key Features
- Self-circulation closed system allowing multi-pass milling and continuous circulation
- Combination of bead milling and centrifugal separation for enhanced milling efficiency
- Wear-resistant ceramic milling chambers and rotors (zirconia for 300 mL, silicon carbide for 1000 mL)
- High-purity zirconia milling balls included for immediate use (0.3 mm diameter, 0.7 kg for 300 mL model)
- Programmable motor speed from 600 to 2880 rpm for 300 mL model; fixed 2850 rpm for 1000 mL model
- Cooling system required with recirculating water chiller operating at 8-12 °C to maintain optimal temperature
- Separation filter nets with tungsten steel or stainless steel mesh to prevent milling media contamination

Typical Applications
This bead mill is ideal for laboratories and research facilities aiming to produce nanoscale dispersions of solid powders in liquids. It is suitable for applications in materials science, pharmaceuticals, nanotechnology, and chemical processing where precise particle size control and contamination-free milling are critical.
Configuration & Operating Notes
- Always operate on a level, stable surface to ensure safety and optimal performance.
- Disconnect power before cleaning if liquid spills occur on the unit.
- Not intended for dry milling of powders; always use wet milling.
- To prevent clumping and improve milling results, sieve powders before milling and consider mixing milling media of different sizes.
- Maximum milling ball size is 1.4 mm to avoid damage to the milling chamber; selecting optimal milling parameters requires experimental adjustment.
- Recirculating water chillers (digital temperature-controlled) are recommended and available optionally to maintain cooling water flow and temperature.
