GSL1800XS60 Compact Vacuum Tube Furnace with Kanthal MoSi2 Heating Elements, 1800ºC Max, 60mm OD Alumina Tube

The GSL1800XS60 is engineered for precise high-temperature processing of material samples under vacuum or controlled gas environments, essential for advanced material research and chemical synthesis. Its compact design incorporates a high-purity alumina tube with a 60mm outer diameter, enabling uniform heating and effective containment of reactive atmospheres.

This tube furnace utilizes four Kanthal Super-1900C grade molybdenum disilicide (MoSi2) heating elements, providing rapid and stable heating up to a maximum of 1800ºC. Temperature regulation is managed by a 30-segment programmable SCR digital controller, ensuring accuracy within ±1ºC. The furnace chamber is lined with alumina refractory board and a zirconia (YSZ) ceramic liner to maximize thermal efficiency and energy savings.

Key Features

  • High-purity alumina processing tube (60mm OD x 54mm ID x 790mm length) with included vacuum sealing flanges, valves, and vacuum gauge for immediate use.
  • Four Swedish-made Kanthal 1900ºC grade MoSi2 heating elements for efficient and durable heating.
  • Programmable Eurotherm 3000 Series temperature controller with 30 segments, ±0.1ºC accuracy, supporting ramp, dwell, and cooling steps.
  • Double-layer steel casing with air cooling and internal fans maintaining case temperature below 60ºC.
  • Energy-saving design consuming less than 1600W at 1800ºC operating temperature.
  • Heating zone length of 125mm with a constant temperature zone (CTZ) of approximately 50mm ±3ºC at 1500ºC.
  • Vacuum capability reaching 50 mTorr with mechanical pumps and down to 10^-5 torr with turbo molecular pumps (vacuum pumps sold separately).

Typical Applications

This furnace is ideal for sintering, annealing, and heat treatment of advanced materials, ceramics, and chemical samples under vacuum or controlled atmospheres. It supports research in materials science, chemistry, and related fields requiring precise thermal processing up to 1800ºC.

Configuration & Operating Notes

The furnace includes a high-purity alumina tube, vacuum sealing flanges with double silicone O-rings, two stainless steel needle valves, and a dial vacuum gauge for immediate vacuum operation. Four fibrous ceramic tube blocks are supplied to minimize heat radiation inside the tube. For optimal tube support at high temperatures, additional tube supports are recommended (sold separately).

Vacuum pumps are not included and must be purchased separately to achieve desired vacuum levels. The furnace is designed for vacuum and low-pressure gas operation below 0.02 MPa. Proper temperature calibration and careful monitoring of chamber pressure are essential for safe and accurate operation. Gas flow rates should be limited to under 200 SCCM, and a two-stage pressure regulator is required on gas cylinders to maintain safe pressure levels.
