Product Overview

The HTVB-50 is a compact high-temperature vibratory ball milling reactor designed for mechanochemical processing, catalyst activation, powder mixing, and materials research under controlled gas atmospheres. Integrating a heated reaction chamber with an adjustable vibration system, the equipment allows researchers to investigate the effects of mechanical energy, temperature, and gas atmosphere on material behavior and chemical reactions.
The reactor can operate at temperatures up to 500°C with programmable temperature control and a stated control accuracy of approximately ±1°C. Its standard configuration supports a maximum working pressure of 3 bar at 500°C, providing a controlled environment for selected high-temperature gas-solid reaction and catalyst research applications.
The stainless steel reaction chamber is manufactured from SS304 stainless steel and incorporates dedicated gas inlet and outlet connections with valves. An external heating ring surrounds the reaction chamber, while a vibration stage driven by a 24V DC motor provides adjustable mechanical excitation. The vibration motor speed can be adjusted from 400 to 2000 RPM, corresponding to approximately 6–33 Hz.
A separate control unit regulates the reactor temperature and vibration speed, allowing operators to configure the required processing conditions. Optional higher-pressure reactor configurations may be available for applications requiring different temperature and pressure combinations, subject to equipment design and verification.
The HTVB-50 is particularly suitable for mechanochemical activation of catalysts for CO₂ methanation research, gas-solid reaction studies, thermal-mechanical powder processing, and advanced catalyst development. It provides a laboratory platform for investigating reaction conditions and material transformations; actual CO₂ conversion and methane production depend on the catalyst, reactant composition, operating conditions, and experimental setup.

Temperature & Pressure Configurations

The HTVB-50 is available with different temperature and pressure capabilities depending on the selected reactor configuration. Each configuration has its own permitted operating limits and should be selected according to the intended experimental conditions.
Configuration 최고 기온 최대 압력
Standard 500°C 3 bar
Optional Configuration A 350°C 10 bar
Optional Configuration B 250°C 20 bar
Pressure Rating Note: These are separate temperature-pressure ratings for different reactor configurations. A 20 bar rating must not be interpreted as permitting operation at 500°C. Confirm the pressure reference basis, allowable gases, complete pressure-temperature limits, and pressure safety documentation before use.

Controlled-Atmosphere Reactor Design

The HTVB-50 incorporates a stainless steel reaction vessel with integrated gas delivery connections, allowing compatible process gases to be introduced and discharged under controlled experimental conditions. Its heated chamber and adjustable vibration stage support investigations involving mechanical activation, thermal treatment, and selected gas-solid chemical reactions.
The reaction chamber includes 1/8-inch inlet and outlet connections equipped with valves. A thermocouple feedthrough is provided on the flange for compatible temperature measurement arrangements. The external heating ring surrounds the reactor to transfer heat to the reaction chamber while the vibration stage applies mechanical excitation during processing.
Gas compatibility, reactor sealing, operating pressure, temperature limits, exhaust treatment, and the suitability of any hydrogen-containing atmosphere must be assessed for each application. The system requires appropriate gas pressure control and suitable laboratory safety infrastructure.

CO₂ Methanation & Mechanochemical Catalyst Research

Carbon dioxide methanation is a catalytic reaction in which CO₂ reacts with hydrogen to form methane and water under suitable reaction conditions. Mechanochemical processing can be investigated as a method of modifying catalyst properties, promoting material contact, and studying the effects of mechanical energy on catalyst preparation and activation.
The HTVB-50 combines elevated-temperature operation, controlled gas delivery, and adjustable vibration in a compact experimental platform. Researchers may use this arrangement to evaluate how processing temperature, gas atmosphere, vibration conditions, milling media, and catalyst composition influence material behavior and reaction performance.
The equipment is intended as a research platform rather than a guaranteed methane-production system. Methane formation, CO₂ conversion, selectivity, and catalyst performance must be established through independently validated experiments using appropriately designed gas-handling, analytical, and safety systems.

Operating Guidelines & Safety Notes

  • Temperature and Pressure Limits: Never exceed the approved temperature-pressure rating of the selected reactor configuration. Optional higher-pressure ratings apply only at their specified lower temperatures.
  • Gas Pressure Regulation: Use a suitable two-stage gas regulator and appropriate independent overpressure protection. Cylinder pressure must not be applied directly to the reactor.
  • Hydrogen and Methane Safety: Hydrogen-containing experiments and methane-producing reactions present fire, explosion, and gas-leak hazards. Such experiments require trained personnel, appropriate gas detection, ventilation, exhaust handling, and a documented risk assessment.
  • Gas Flow Control: Maintain gas delivery within the specified flow limit and ensure the complete gas-handling system is compatible with the intended process.
  • Gas Leakage Prevention: Check reactor seals, flange connections, valves, and gas fittings using an approved leak-testing procedure before operation.
  • Thermocouple Installation: Use a suitable temperature sensor and verify correct installation, calibration, and compatibility with the intended operating conditions.
  • Reactor Loading: Do not exceed the specified material and milling media capacity. Allow adequate internal volume for the selected process and thermal expansion where applicable.
  • Grinding Media Compatibility: Select milling balls that are suitable for the process temperature, reaction atmosphere, sample material, and mechanical loading conditions.
  • Hot Surface Protection: The reactor and connected components may reach hazardous temperatures. Allow adequate cooling and depressurization before opening or servicing the system.
  • Mechanical Stability: Ensure that the reactor assembly is securely mounted and that vibration speed and loading remain within the approved equipment limits.
  • Electrical Safety: Verify the local supply voltage, grounding, electrical protection, and controller connections before operation.
  • Qualified Operation: Use the equipment only under an approved laboratory operating procedure with suitable process monitoring, emergency controls, and relevant safety documentation.
Configuration & Performance Note: The HTVB-50 is a laboratory research reactor. Maximum temperature, working pressure, allowable gases, loading capacity, accessories, and certification documentation must be confirmed for the actual supplied configuration. CO₂ conversion, methane yield, catalyst activation, and other experimental results depend on the catalyst, feed gas composition, reactor conditions, and validated operating procedures. Specifications are subject to final technical confirmation by PENGXIN Machinery.
