MSK-2150-PD 4T Max Gap-Control Cold Rolling Press with Digital Pressure Display and Roll-to-Roll Option for Electrode Calendaring

The MSK-2150-PD is engineered to meet the demanding needs of lithium-ion battery research, specifically for the calendaring process that adjusts electrode thickness and material density after coating and drying. This benchtop cold rolling press accommodates sample widths up to 150 mm (6 inches) and provides precise gap control to ensure uniform thickness and optimal electrode performance.

Equipped with a digital pressure display, the MSK-2150-PD allows real-time monitoring of rolling force up to 4 tons. Its compact design includes a removable roll-to-roll (R2R) system enabling continuous film processing or standalone operation. The rolling speed is adjustable between 10 and 50 mm per second, controlled by a frequency speed controller, while dual micrometers provide accurate thickness adjustments within a 0 to 3 mm range.

Key Features

  • Maximum rolling pressure of 4 tons with digital real-time pressure display via load sensors.
  • Roll-to-roll function included with removable device for flexible operation modes.
  • Dual hardened steel rollers (150 mm width x 94 mm diameter) with chromium electroplated coating and surface hardness of HRC 58-62.
  • Adjustable rolling speed from 10 to 50 mm/second controlled by a 200W AC motor with frequency speed controller.
  • Dual micrometer thickness adjustment with 0.01 mm resolution and 0–10 mm range, unit switchable between mm and inches.
  • Heavy-duty steel frame and gears designed for durability and precision.
  • Safety note: Not suitable for rolling materials harder than 50 HRC or thick metals; not compatible with glove box use under argon atmosphere.

Typical Applications

This rolling press is primarily used for lithium-ion battery electrode research to control electrode thickness and density after coating and drying processes. It is suitable for calendaring thin films and electrode sheets with hardness below 50 HRC. The roll-to-roll option facilitates continuous processing of flexible films.

Configuration & Operating Notes

  • The roll-to-roll device is removable, allowing the machine to function as an independent rolling press.
  • Users must clean roller surfaces with acetone after each use to prevent contamination and corrosion.
  • Apply anti-rust lubricant on rollers if the machine will be idle for extended periods.
  • Multi-step calendaring is recommended with thickness decrements no greater than 0.02 mm per pass to avoid damaging samples.
  • Do not roll materials harder than 50 HRC or thick metals; consult technical support for special applications.
  • Not suitable for use inside glove boxes with argon atmosphere.
