MSK-AFA-HC100 Mini Tape Casting Coater with Heatable Vacuum Bed up to 120°C and Integrated 24VDC Vacuum Pump

The MSK-AFA-HC100 is engineered for laboratory-scale tape casting applications requiring uniform thin film deposition of polymers or conductive ceramics on various substrates. Its compact footprint allows placement inside glove boxes through antechambers, enabling operation under inert atmospheres such as argon gas. This makes it suitable for sensitive materials and processes demanding controlled environments.

The core of the system is a heatable vacuum chuck constructed from aluminum alloy, featuring micro-sized vacuum holes across a 190 mm by 90 mm surface area. The chuck can be heated up to 120°C with a digital temperature controller providing ±1°C accuracy, facilitating controlled drying or curing of coatings. A 24V brushless DC motor drives a film applicator with adjustable thickness settings, enabling precise control over coating thicknesses ranging from 50 to 200 μm. The integrated vacuum pump, powered by the coater’s 24V supply, maintains substrate fixation during coating.

Typische Anwendungsbereiche

This coater is ideal for producing uniform thin films of polymer or conductive ceramic materials on substrates used in battery electrode fabrication, thin film research, and advanced material coatings. Its compatibility with glove-box environments supports processing of air-sensitive materials such as lithium-ion battery electrodes. The heatable vacuum bed facilitates controlled drying and curing of coatings, improving film quality and adhesion.

Hinweise zur Konfiguration und zum Betrieb

The MSK-AFA-HC100 includes a fixed-thickness film applicator and a stainless steel slurry boat for immediate use. Optional accessories such as thickness-adjustable applicators, hybrid slot die applicators, and precision digital micrometers for film thickness measurement are available separately. The vacuum pump is integrated and powered by the coater’s 24 V supply, simplifying setup.

For optimal coating consistency, it is recommended to operate the coater under a fume hood and to prepare slurry with a vacuum mixer to remove air bubbles. Post-coating drying can be enhanced using a vacuum oven. Rolling pressing equipment is advised to improve electrode density and adhesion after coating.
