OTF-1500X-VGB Vertical Atmosphere Controlled Quenching Furnace with Integrated Glovebox and Electromagnetic Sample Release
The OTF-1500X-VGB is engineered for precise heat treatment and rapid quenching of materials that are highly sensitive to oxygen and moisture. It integrates a vertical tube furnace with a glovebox that maintains an ultra-low oxygen and moisture environment (<1ppm), enabling sample preparation and transfer without exposure to ambient air. This design is ideal for studying phase transitions and microstructural changes in sensitive materials.
Samples are vertically loaded through the glovebox directly into the furnace tube, which is connected via a vacuum-tight bulkhead flange. An electromagnetic release mechanism suspends the sample in the hot zone for heat treatment and then releases it into the airtight stainless steel quenching chamber below. This chamber supports rapid quenching from temperatures up to 1500°C into oil or other quenching media, preserving sample integrity under controlled atmosphere conditions.

Typische Anwendungsbereiche
This furnace system is suited for research involving phase transitions, microstructural analysis, and heat treatment of materials that degrade or oxidize upon exposure to air or moisture. It is particularly useful for quenching experiments requiring rapid cooling from high temperatures under controlled atmospheres, such as in battery materials, advanced ceramics, and sensitive alloys.
Hinweise zur Konfiguration und zum Betrieb
The system includes an electromagnetic sample release mechanism with a hinged plate and cable for suspending samples in the hot zone. The hinged plate releases the sample into the quenching tank when the electromagnet is powered off. The bottom flange connects to an electrically operated 4″ gate valve and an airtight quenching media container. Water cooling jackets protect Viton seals during operation. Use of oil such as diffusion pump fluid is recommended as quenching media under vacuum conditions.
Optional accessories include a hydraulic press, vacuum pumps, water chillers, and PC control software with wireless remote operation. Calibration of temperature before use is advised for accurate control. The glovebox front panel is tempered glass for easy loading and observation.
