SP-MSM16AT 16-Station Automatic Arc Melting System with Programmable Flip Function and Integrated Glovebox

The SP-MSM16AT is engineered to facilitate the rapid synthesis and homogenization of multiple alloy samples simultaneously. It is particularly suited for research environments focused on developing new-generation alloys, where consistent sample quality and throughput are critical. The system integrates a 16-cavity copper hearth inside a glovebox that maintains an ultra-pure Argon atmosphere with oxygen and moisture levels below 1 ppm, ensuring minimal contamination during melting.

Samples loaded into the hearth undergo automated arc melting cycles combined with programmable flipping—up to 10 times per sample—to promote uniform alloy composition without manual intervention. The glovebox features an automatic antechamber door system that facilitates sample transfer and retrieval, enabling a streamlined workflow. The system can be integrated with automated guided vehicles (AGVs) or robotic arms for fully autonomous operation.

Key Features

  • 16-station copper hearth with 20 mm diameter cavities, water-cooled for thermal stability.
  • Programmable flipping function allowing up to 10 flips per sample to ensure homogeneity.
  • Glovebox environment with Argon gas purification maintaining <1 ppm O2 and H2O levels.
  • Automatic antechamber doors for sample loading and unloading without breaking inert atmosphere.
  • Arc melting power supply delivering up to 300 A DC current with pulse frequency range 0.1–100 Hz.
  • Water-cooled 6 mm diameter tungsten electrode capable of melting temperatures up to 3000°C.
  • Compatibility with AGV or robotic automation for unattended operation.

Typical Applications

This system is ideal for high-throughput synthesis and homogenization of multi-component alloys, especially in research and development of advanced materials. It supports exploration of novel alloy compositions with minimal contamination risk due to its controlled atmosphere and automated processing.

Configuration & Operating Notes

The system includes the glovebox with integrated arc melting chamber, 16-cavity copper hearth, water-cooled tungsten electrode, and MTI KJ-5300 water chiller. High-purity Argon gas and hydrogen/argon mixture for purifier regeneration are required but not supplied. Optional integration with AGV or robotic automation can enable fully unattended operation. Users should ensure stable power supply and maintain room conditions within specified temperature and humidity ranges for optimal performance.
