MSK-2150-DC Electric Cold Rolling Press with Variable Speed, 150mm Width x 94mm Diameter Rollers, Ar Glove-Box Compatible

The MSK-2150-DC is engineered to support advanced research in lithium-ion battery electrode fabrication by enabling precise control over electrode thickness and density through cold rolling. This electric rolling press is particularly suited for processing coated and dried electrode sheets, allowing researchers to fine-tune material properties critical to battery performance. Its compatibility with argon glove box environments ensures safe handling of air-sensitive materials such as lithium metal foils.

The press employs dual hardened steel rollers, each 150 mm wide and 94 mm in diameter, with a chromium electroplated coating and surface hardness of HRC 60-62. The rolling gap is adjustable from 0 to 1.0 mm, controlled by dual micrometers with 0.01 mm resolution, enabling thickness adjustments up to 3 mm. Rolling speed is digitally controlled and variable from 0 to 50 mm per second, with forward, stop, and backward operation modes. The machine’s torque capability reaches 850 N, ensuring effective pressing force for electrode calendaring without damaging materials below 20 HRC hardness.

Key Features

  • Precision dual micrometer adjustment for thickness control from 0 to 3 mm with 0.01 mm resolution and unit interchangeability (mm/in).
  • Variable rolling speed digitally controlled from 0 to 50 mm/s with forward, stop, and reverse functions.
  • Dual hardened steel rollers (150 mm width x 94 mm diameter) with Cr electroplated coating and HRC 60-62 hardness.
  • Heavy-duty steel frame and gears designed for durability and stable operation.
  • Integrated lighting behind rollers for enhanced sample observation during processing.
  • Built-in toolbox and safety barricades for operator convenience and protection.
  • Compatible with argon or nitrogen glove box environments for handling air-sensitive materials.

Typical Applications

This rolling press is optimized for lithium-ion battery electrode research, enabling precise calendaring of coated and dried electrode sheets to adjust thickness and density. It is suitable for use within argon or nitrogen glove boxes, making it ideal for processing air-sensitive materials such as lithium metal foils. The equipment supports multi-step thickness reduction with fine control to prevent damage to delicate samples.

Configuration & Operating Notes

Optional integration with the MSK-2150-RD Roll-to-Roll system is available for automated film unwinding and winding during calendaring. Operators must clean roller surfaces with acetone after each use and apply anti-rust lubricant if the machine is idle for extended periods. The press is not suitable for materials harder than 20 HRC and should never be used on materials exceeding 50 HRC hardness. When rolling lithium metal foil, use high purity mineral oil as a lubricant to prevent sticking. Thickness reduction per calendaring step should not exceed 0.02 mm to avoid sample damage.
