KSL-1600X-H5E Economic Hydrogen Gas Box Furnace with 16″x16″x16″ Chamber, Up to 1700°C, Gas Leak Detector & Pressure Release Valve

The KSL-1600X-H5E furnace is engineered for advanced material synthesis and heat treatment processes requiring a controlled hydrogen or inert gas atmosphere. Its sizable internal chamber measuring 16 inches cubed (approximately 65 liters) accommodates larger samples or batch processing. This furnace is particularly suited for applications demanding a reducing atmosphere at high temperatures up to 1700°C, such as preparing novel materials or annealing under argon gas.

Constructed with a vacuum-sealed stainless steel case and insulated by 1800-grade fibrous alumina bricks, the furnace ensures excellent thermal efficiency and safety. The heating system employs nine molybdenum alloy coils arranged on three sides, providing uniform temperature distribution. A water-cooled front door and air-cooled shell protect the structure, while a pressure release valve and integrated hydrogen gas leak detector enhance operational safety by automatically shutting off gas and power if leaks or flame failures are detected.

Key Features

  • Chamber dimensions: 400 x 400 x 400 mm (16″ x 16″ x 16″) with 65 L capacity
  • Maximum continuous temperature: 1600°C; short-term max 1700°C under H2 or Ar atmosphere
  • Heating elements: 9 replaceable molybdenum alloy coils; optional MoSi2 elements for oxygen or air use
  • Double-layer stainless steel vacuum-sealed structure with water cooling and air cooling
  • Automatic hydrogen gas leak detection with burner flame monitoring and safety shutoff
  • PID temperature controller with 50 programmable segments and ±1°C accuracy
  • Gas flow control with float meters and vacuum port for pressure regulation

Typical Applications

This furnace is ideal for synthesizing new materials and heat treating samples that require a reducing atmosphere, such as hydrogen or argon gas environments. It supports processes in research and development labs focused on advanced ceramics, metal alloys, and semiconductor materials. The system is not recommended for use with nitrogen gas atmospheres.

Configuration & Operating Notes

The furnace includes built-in pressure gauges, vacuum valves, and gas flow meters for precise atmosphere control. The Mo heating elements are consumable and must not be used in air or oxygen atmospheres above 300°C; for such conditions, MoSi2 elements are available as an option. The system requires continuous water cooling to protect seals and maintain safety. Operators must maintain chamber pressure slightly above atmospheric (0.01-0.02 MPa) to prevent oxygen backflow and potential hazards. Installation in a well-ventilated room with hydrogen detection and fume extraction is mandatory. Exhausting hydrogen gas directly into the room is prohibited.
