MSK-2150-DC Electric Cold Rolling Press with Variable Speed, 150mm Width x 94mm Diameter Rollers, AR Glove-Box Compatible

The MSK-2150-DC is engineered for laboratory-scale precision rolling of electrode materials, particularly suited for lithium-ion battery research. It enables controlled calendaring to adjust electrode thickness and material density after coating and drying processes. This rolling press is compatible with argon or nitrogen glove boxes, facilitating inert atmosphere operations essential for sensitive materials like lithium metal foil.

The press incorporates dual hardened steel rollers, each 150 mm wide and 94 mm in diameter, with a chromium electroplated surface hardness of HRC 60-62. The rolling gap is adjustable from 0 to 1.0 mm, allowing fine control over the thickness of the processed material. Rolling speed is digitally controlled and variable up to 50 mm per second, with forward, stop, and backward functions. Torque capability reaches 850 N, supporting consistent pressure application during calendaring.

Key Features

  • Dual hardened steel rollers (150 mm width x 94 mm diameter) with Cr electroplated coating for durability and corrosion resistance.
  • Variable rolling speed adjustable from 0 to 50 mm/s with digital control and reversible operation.
  • Dual micrometers providing precise thickness adjustment from 0 to 3 mm with 0.01 mm resolution and unit interchangeability (mm/in).
  • Built-in safety barricades and integrated lighting behind rollers for enhanced sample observation during operation.
  • Compatible with argon/nitrogen glove boxes for inert atmosphere processing.
  • Heavy-duty steel frame and gears ensure mechanical stability and long service life.
  • Includes UL/CSA listed power adapter (100-240 VAC input, 24 VDC output) for flexible voltage operation (110 or 220 VAC, 50/60 Hz).

Typical Applications

This rolling press is primarily used in lithium-ion battery research laboratories for electrode calendaring to optimize electrode density and thickness after coating and drying. It is also suitable for rolling lithium metal foils under inert atmospheres when mineral oil lubrication is applied. The device supports research workflows requiring precise mechanical compression of thin films and sheets without damaging sensitive materials.

Configuration & Operating Notes

  • An optional roll-to-roll system (MSK-2150-RD) can be integrated to automate film unwinding and winding during calendaring.
  • Operators must clean roller surfaces with acetone after each use to prevent contamination and corrosion.
  • Anti-rust lubricant application is recommended if the machine is idle for extended periods.
  • Material hardness must not exceed 20 HRC to avoid damage; rolling materials harder than 50 HRC is strictly prohibited.
  • For lithium metal foil rolling, use high purity mineral oil as lubricant to prevent sticking; cleaning instructions are provided separately.
  • Multi-step calendaring with incremental thickness reductions of no more than 0.02 mm per pass is advised for optimal results.
