MSK-HRP-03D Hot Rolling Press with Dual PID Temperature Control
The MSK-HRP-03D is engineered for laboratory-scale hot rolling applications requiring precise temperature and thickness control. It is particularly suited for calendaring battery electrodes, plastic films, and soft metal foils to improve their density and surface finish. The press features two independently heated rollers, each controlled by a dedicated PID temperature controller, allowing for enhanced uniformity and accuracy in heating up to 110°C.
The rollers have a diameter of 200 mm (8″) and a width of 250 mm (10″), made from high-quality tool steel with chromium plating to ensure durability and surface hardness (HRC 60-62). The gap between the rollers is adjustable from 0 to 2 mm with a micrometer dial gauge providing 0.01 mm accuracy, enabling precise control over the rolling thickness. The rolling speed is digitally controlled with a maximum linear speed of 60 mm/s and selectable rolling direction for easy material handling.
Key Features
- Dual independent PID temperature controllers for upper and lower rollers, supporting up to 110°C continuous operation.

Typical Applications
This hot rolling press is ideal for densifying and improving the surface quality of battery electrodes, plastic films, and soft metal foils. It is commonly used in battery research and development labs for calendaring electrode materials to optimize their mechanical and electrochemical properties. The equipment is also suitable for processing sensitive materials requiring controlled heating and precise thickness adjustment.
Configuration & Operating Notes
The MSK-HRP-03D includes two PID temperature controllers for independent roller heating and a digital speed controller. The power cable is included, but the power plug must be ordered separately. The gap between rollers should be adjusted incrementally, especially for multi-step calendaring processes, to avoid damaging delicate samples. Regular lubrication of roller bearings is recommended to extend service life. The rollers should be cleaned after each use and lubricated if stored to prevent corrosion. Materials with hardness exceeding 50 HRC should not be processed to avoid roller damage. Optional vertical rolling and roll-to-roll configurations are available at additional cost.
