MSK-800-2K Analog Ultrasonic Metal Welder for Lithium-Ion Pouch Cell Electrode Tab Welding
The MSK-800-2K ultrasonic metal welder is engineered specifically for the precise joining of nickel or aluminum tabs onto stacked electrode sheets with copper or aluminum current collectors. This process is critical in the preparation of lithium-ion pouch cells within research and development laboratory environments. The device achieves high-quality welds without the need for solder, preserving the physical and chemical integrity of the metals involved.
Utilizing a 35 kHz ultrasonic frequency, the welder delivers rapid welding cycles ranging from 0.01 to 2 seconds. The welding head covers a 4 mm by 4 mm area and can handle up to 20 layers of current collectors. The system is powered by a 220 VAC supply and requires an external pneumatic source within 30 to 120 psi for operation, which is not included. An optional wide welding head and a KF40 feedthrough for argon glove box environments are available to extend functionality.

Typical Applications
This ultrasonic welder is ideal for assembling lithium-ion pouch cell electrodes by welding nickel or aluminum tabs onto copper or aluminum current collectors. Its compact design allows integration inside glove boxes with argon atmospheres, supporting advanced battery research such as lithium-sulfur and solid-state lithium cells.
Configuration & Operating Notes
The system includes one welding head and base suitable for both aluminum and copper collectors. Pneumatic control requires an external air supply or gas cylinder with a two-stage pressure regulator to maintain safe operating pressure. For use in argon glove boxes, the KF40 feedthrough option must be selected. Additional protective shields are included in UL-certified versions for enhanced safety.
