SP-MSM200 Benchtop Vacuum Arc Melting System with Water-Cooled Copper Hearth and 200g Iron Alloy Capacity

Central to its design is a water-cooled vacuum chamber and copper hearth that ensure efficient heat management during operation. The system includes a built-in mechanical manipulator that enables tilting and rotation of metal ingots for uniform melting and re-melting without breaking the vacuum seal. A tinted observation window allows real-time monitoring of the melting process.

Key Features

  • Water-cooled vacuum chamber, electrode, and copper hearth with one large cavity (round or optional rectangular) plus several smaller cavities for varied sample sizes.
  • Powerful 8 kW arc melting power supply with DC output up to 315 A and HF arc ignition for stable and reliable melting.
  • Manual electrode tilting and height adjustment via handwheel for precise control during melting.
  • Mechanical wobble stick manipulator for tilting and rotating samples inside the vacuum chamber without venting.
  • Tinted front observation window for safe and clear process monitoring.
  • Optional upgrades include a 25 kW power supply for refractory alloys and vacuum casting crucibles.

Typical Applications

The SP-MSM200 is suitable for melting and re-melting of iron-based alloys and other metals requiring high-temperature vacuum arc melting. It supports research in metallurgy, alloy development, and preparation of hydrogen plasma metal hydrides with appropriate gas delivery upgrades.

Configuration & Operating Notes

Water cooling is mandatory for the vacuum chamber, copper crucible, and electrode; a compatible recirculating water chiller is recommended but not included. Vacuum pumps are sold separately and determine achievable vacuum levels. Optional power supply upgrades and crucible designs are available for refractory metals and vacuum casting. For hydrogen plasma arc melting, additional gas delivery systems and safety equipment must be integrated, and professional training is advised.
