Product Overview

The MSK-SFM-13S is a compact, high-throughput planetary ball mill designed for efficient laboratory-scale grinding, powder mixing, homogenization, and mechanical alloying. Featuring four milling stations and specially designed four-cavity stainless steel grinding jars, the system can process up to 16 individual samples in a single batch, making it an excellent solution for research laboratories requiring high-efficiency sample preparation and simultaneous material processing.
Each four-cavity stainless steel milling jar accommodates four individual sample chambers, with a nominal capacity of 10 mL per cavity. By installing four jars simultaneously, researchers can process multiple material compositions under the same operating conditions, improving experimental efficiency and reducing the time required for comparative studies, material screening, and formulation development.
The MSK-SFM-13S combines a high-energy planetary milling mechanism with an advanced programmable touchscreen controller. Users can adjust rotational speed, operating time, milling direction, and multi-stage grinding cycles to optimize processing conditions for different materials. The planetary motion generates centrifugal forces that promote effective particle size reduction, uniform powder blending, and mechanical alloying.
Designed for universities, materials science laboratories, battery research facilities, and industrial R&D applications, the system is suitable for processing metallic powders, ceramics, metal oxides, minerals, chemical compounds, and polymer composites. Compatible single-cavity grinding jars may also be used for conventional planetary milling applications, depending on the selected accessories and configuration.

  • Alternative Jar Materials: Tungsten carbide, alumina, zirconia, nylon, and other selected materials may be available to meet specific sample requirements.
  • Material Compatibility: The grinding jar and milling media should be selected based on sample hardness, chemical compatibility, and allowable contamination levels.

Applications

The MSK-SFM-13S is suitable for laboratories requiring simultaneous processing of multiple sample compositions, particularly in high-throughput material research, comparative grinding experiments, and formulation development.
  • Battery electrode and energy storage materials research
  • High-throughput powder preparation and material screening
  • Mechanical alloying and metal powder processing
  • Ceramic and metal oxide powder grinding
  • Mineral sample preparation and fine particle processing
  • Polymer composite and chemical material mixing
  • Powder homogenization and experimental formulation development
  • University, research institute, and industrial laboratory applications

Operating Guidelines & Safety Notes

  • Balanced Jar Installation: Always install two jars in opposite positions with similar total weights or use four evenly balanced jars during operation.
  • Single-Sample Processing: When only one sample is being processed, install an appropriately weighted counterbalance jar in the symmetrical position.
  • Prevent Unbalanced Rotation: Improper loading can cause excessive vibration, unstable milling, and possible damage to the planetary drive system.
  • Jar and Media Selection: Stainless steel jars are suitable for many metallic materials. For selected oxide and ceramic powders, compatible nonmetallic jars and ceramic grinding media may be preferable.
  • Avoid Incompatible Grinding Media: Do not use stainless steel grinding balls inside alumina jars, as this may result in damage and sample contamination.
  • Particle Size Performance: Final powder size depends on the starting material, grinding jar, milling media, ball-to-powder ratio, rotational speed, and processing duration.
  • Equipment Operation: Ensure that all grinding jars are securely clamped and that the milling chamber is properly closed before operation.
Configuration Note: The standard jar and grinding media package described above is based on the referenced equipment configuration. Final accessories, material options, certification documents, electrical configuration, and delivery specifications should be confirmed in the PENGXIN Machinery quotation. Milling performance and achievable particle size may vary according to material properties and processing conditions.
