MSKAFAI Compact Tape Casting Coater with Vacuum Chuck, Adjustable Film Applicator, and Optional Heating

The MSKAFAI is engineered to facilitate uniform tape casting and film coating processes, particularly suited for ceramic tape castings and lithium-ion battery electrode fabrication. It addresses the challenge of achieving consistent film thickness on various substrate materials by integrating a flat vacuum chuck that firmly secures the substrate during coating operations.

This coater features a 100 mm wide micrometer-adjustable film applicator (doctor blade) capable of setting coating thickness from 0.01 mm up to 3.5 mm, enabling precise control over film dimensions. The coating length is adjustable between 10 mm and 350 mm, with a variable traverse speed ranging from 10 to 100 mm/sec, ensuring adaptability to diverse experimental requirements. Optional heating elements can be installed on the top or bottom surfaces, providing controlled drying temperatures up to 120°C with ±1°C accuracy to optimize film curing and drying.

Typische Anwendungsbereiche

The MSKAFAI coater is widely used in research and development of ceramic tape castings and lithium-ion battery electrodes, enabling precise film thickness control for cathode and anode coatings. It is suitable for coating polymer films requiring uniform thickness and optional UV curing. The equipment supports experimentation with various slurry materials and substrates, including porous substrates when combined with optional glass plates.

Hinweise zur Konfiguration und zum Betrieb

The standard package includes the vacuum chuck, one 100 mm micrometer film applicator, travel pusher, and waste plates. Optional accessories include heating plates (top and/or bottom), UV lamp for polymer curing, and vacuum pumps. The vacuum pump is not supplied and must be sourced separately or selected from available options.

For optimal coating quality, it is recommended to preheat the vacuum chuck to 60-70°C before coating and maintain heating during the process. After coating, closing the optional heating cover and increasing temperature to approximately 100-120°C aids in uniform drying. Operation under a fume hood is advised to manage solvent vapors. Additional equipment such as vacuum mixers and slurry viscosity testers may be used to improve slurry uniformity and coating consistency.
