MSK-T-06 Heavy Duty Manual Disc Cutter with 4 Die Sets (12, 15, 19 & 20 mm) for Thin Metal Foils up to 0.20 mm

The MSK-T-06 is engineered to meet the demanding needs of battery researchers and materials scientists who require precise, repeatable cutting of small round discs from thin metal foils and sheets. It is particularly suited for preparing electrode and separator discs used in coin cells and split test cells, where accuracy and clean edges are critical for performance and assembly.

This manually operated disc cutter applies a maximum nominal pressure of 600 kN and features a maximum stroke of 40 mm, enabling it to cut foils with thicknesses ranging from 0.01 mm up to 0.20 mm. The cutter is compatible with materials such as copper, aluminum, and stainless steel foils with hardness below RC 40. The tool steel cutting dies are designed for durability but require careful handling to avoid moisture damage.

Key Features

  • Manual operation with a maximum nominal pressure of 600 kN and 40 mm stroke for precise cutting.
  • Includes four hardened tool steel cutting dies with diameters of 12, 15, 19, and 20 mm for versatile disc sizes.
  • Capable of cutting metal foils from 0.01 mm to 0.20 mm thickness, suitable for copper, aluminum, and stainless steel.
  • Optional cutting dies available in sizes from 10 mm up to 24 mm to accommodate various coin cell formats.

Typical Applications

The MSK-T-06 is widely used in battery research laboratories for preparing electrode and separator discs for various coin cell formats including CR2016, CR2025, CR2032, CR2325, and CR2450. It is essential for producing discs that fit precisely within battery cases to ensure optimal cell assembly and performance. The cutter is also suitable for cutting thin metal foils used in other electrochemical and materials science applications.

Configuration & Operating Notes

The standard package includes four cutting dies in 12, 15, 19, and 20 mm diameters made of hardened tool steel. Optional dies in other sizes can be purchased separately. Users must handle cutting dies carefully to avoid misalignment during die changes, as improper installation can damage the dies. It is recommended to keep dies dry and clean due to their carbon steel composition. For cutting separator films, sandwiching the film between transparent file covers is advised to stiffen the material and achieve clean edges. For glove box operations or compact cutting needs, alternative models such as MSK-T-07 or MSK-T-10 may be considered.
