MSK-AFA-MC400 Roll-to-Roll Pilot Coating System with Multiple Coating Heads and Optional Multi-Zone Convection Drying Oven
The MSK-AFA-MC400 is engineered to meet the demands of pilot-scale roll-to-roll coating processes, enabling precise application of various slurry coatings onto flexible substrates such as copper, aluminum, PET, polypropylene, and polyethylene films. This system accommodates multiple coating techniques, providing adaptability for a wide range of coating viscosities and thickness requirements.
The system integrates an optional convection drying oven with one to three heating zones, each independently temperature-controlled, facilitating efficient drying and curing of coated films. The modular design allows customization of coating width and drying length to suit specific process needs.
Key Features
- Supports multiple coating heads: Doctor Blade, Reverse Comma Blade (transfer coating), Slot Die, Micro Gravure, and Tape Casting for broad application versatility.
- Doctor Blade suitable for continuous coatings with thicknesses from 10 to 200 microns and slurry viscosities between 500 and 10,000 mPa·s.
- Reverse Comma Blade offers both continuous and intermittent coating modes with thickness ranges of 30–150 microns (continuous) and 30–100 microns (intermittent).
- Slot Die coating enables precise uniform films as thin as 1 micron up to 200 microns across a 360 mm width, with slurry viscosities from 200 to 10,000 mPa·s.
- Micro Gravure coating supports continuous and intermittent modes for thin films from 1 to 10 microns with slurry viscosities of 30 to 1,000 mPa·s.
- Optional convection drying oven with up to three zones, each 1.5 meters long, maximum drying temperature of 150°C, and adjustable airflow for optimized curing.
- Compatible with compressed air supply at 0.5–0.8 MPa; separate power inputs recommended for each heating chamber.

Typical Applications
The MSK-AFA-MC400 is ideal for pilot-scale development and testing of coated films used in electronics, energy storage, flexible displays, and packaging industries. It supports precise coating of functional layers such as conductive, dielectric, or protective films on metal foils and polymer substrates.
Configuration & Operating Notes
- Coating heads are selectable options and not included as standard; users should specify desired head(s) when ordering.
- Slurry feeding systems such as MSK-155 or MSK-156 pumps are available separately to complement specific coating heads.
- Compressed air supply must be regulated within specified pressure range; use of two-stage pressure regulators is required if gas cylinders replace compressors.
- Optional atmosphere plasma treatment can be added to enhance substrate surface energy for improved coating adhesion.
- Separate power inputs are recommended for each heating chamber to ensure stable operation of the drying oven.
- Technical training and onsite support are available upon request to facilitate system commissioning and operation.
