MSK-USP-05 Large Floor-Stand Ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis Coating Unit with 10″x10″ 500°C Heating Plate and Precise Stepper Motor Control

The MSK-USP-05 is engineered to facilitate the deposition of thin films through ultrasonic spray pyrolysis on substrates larger than standard sizes. It is particularly suited for coating applications requiring uniform thin films formed by spraying precursor solutions onto a heated surface, where thermal decomposition or chemical reactions produce the desired compound. This model expands on previous versions by offering a larger 250 x 250 mm heating plate capable of reaching temperatures up to 500°C, enabling effective processing of larger substrates.

The unit features a stepper motor-driven spray head capable of precise X-Y movement over a 250 mm travel range, ensuring uniform coating coverage. The dispensing system uses a positive displacement pump controlled by a microprocessor and stepper motor, allowing adjustable solution flow rates between 1 and 10 ml per second. The ultrasonic spray head operates at 40 kHz with 130 W power, producing fine droplets averaging 50 microns, suitable for thin film coatings. Additionally, the system includes nitrogen purging capability within the enclosure to maintain controlled atmospheric conditions during coating.

Key Features

  • Large 250 x 250 mm substrate heating plate with independent digital temperature control up to 500°C.
  • Ultrasonic spray head producing fine droplets (~50 microns) for thin, uniform coatings.
  • Stepper motor-driven linear stages providing precise X-Y spray head movement over 250 mm travel.
  • Adjustable dispensing rate from 1 to 10 ml/sec via microprocessor-controlled positive displacement pump.
  • Multiple spray heads included: ultrasonic atomizer, compressive air spray, and syringe pump with compressive air for thick films.
  • Integrated nitrogen purging system for controlled atmosphere coating.
  • Includes compact air compressor and pressure regulator with digital gauge for precise air pressure control.

Typical Applications

This unit is ideal for depositing oxide thin films such as tin oxide (SnO2) on glass substrates, commonly used in transparent electrical conductors. It is also suitable for research and development of perovskite solar cells and other thin film photovoltaic materials. The precise control over spray parameters and substrate temperature enables optimization of film uniformity and chemical composition.

Configuration & Operating Notes

The MSK-USP-05 can be separated from its floor stand for use as a tabletop unit, enhancing flexibility in laboratory setups. Nitrogen purging is integrated to maintain an inert atmosphere during coating. The system includes multiple spray heads for different coating thicknesses and solution types. Users should ensure compressed air supply at approximately 4 bar; a compact air compressor is included for immediate operation. When substituting a gas cylinder for the air compressor, a two-stage pressure regulator must be installed to maintain safe operating pressure.

Safety precautions must be observed as the working chamber is not flame-proof, explosion-proof, or vacuum-sealed. Proper handling and protective measures should be followed when using hazardous materials. For applications requiring vacuum-sealed environments, consider alternative models designed for such conditions.
