OTF1700X-HP Customized Vacuum Hot Pressing Furnace for 2″ Pellets with Up to 2000°C and 50 MPa Pressure
The OTF1700X-HP furnace is engineered to meet the demanding requirements of powder metallurgy, ceramic fabrication, and advanced materials research. It enables precise hot pressing of pellet samples up to 2 inches (approximately 50.8 mm) in diameter within a controlled vacuum environment. This system is particularly suited for processes requiring high temperature and pressure to achieve densification and material consolidation.
The furnace features a water-cooled stainless steel vacuum chamber with an internal diameter of 500 mm and height of 700 mm, equipped with a hinged front door and glass observation window. It achieves high vacuum levels down to 10-5 Torr when paired with an appropriate turbomolecular or diffusion pump (sold separately). The heating chamber inside the vacuum chamber is insulated with fibrous alumina and supports multiple heating configurations tailored to the required operating temperature range, from 1200°C up to 2000°C.
Key Features
- Customizable heating options: NiCrAl resistance (500–1200°C), MoSi2 resistance (1200–1700°C), or induction heating (1200–2000°C).
- Integrated electromechanical pressing system delivering up to 10 metric tons of force, corresponding to a maximum pressure of 50 MPa on 2″ diameter pellets.
- Water-cooled stainless steel vacuum chamber with glass window and hinged door for easy access and observation.
- Programmable digital temperature controller with PID tuning and up to 30 temperature segments for precise thermal profiles.
- PC-based integrated control software for synchronized temperature and pressure management.

Typical Applications
The OTF1700X-HP furnace is ideal for sintering and densification of ceramic and metallic powders, fabrication of advanced composite materials, and research requiring tightly controlled vacuum hot pressing conditions. It supports development of high-performance materials in fields such as electronics, aerospace, and energy storage.
Configuration & Operating Notes
The heating element type and thermocouple selection must be specified according to the desired maximum operating temperature at the time of order. Vacuum pumps and external water cooling systems are not included and must be purchased separately. Optional electrohydraulic pressing systems and gas purification units are available to enhance process flexibility. Graphite dies are recommended for vacuum or inert atmospheres only; alumina dies are suitable for oxidative environments. Operators should ensure adequate water cooling flow and proper vacuum pump selection to maintain system performance and safety.
