OTF1200XSLVT Compact Split Tube Furnace with Insertable Temperature Calibrator and Integrated Vacuum System

The OTF1200XSLVT is engineered for laboratory applications requiring controlled atmosphere heat treatment of samples up to 1200°C. This split tube furnace accommodates a quartz tube with a 50mm outer diameter and 600mm length, providing a stable heating zone of 200mm. It is ideal for processes that demand precise temperature control combined with vacuum or gas flow environments.

The furnace integrates a vacuum system capable of reaching pressures as low as 1E-2 Torr, supported by a mechanical rotary vane pump and digital vacuum gauge. Gas inlet and outlet fittings allow for controlled gas flow or vacuum operation. An insertable K-type thermocouple connected to an OMEGA temperature calibrator enables direct measurement of sample temperature inside the tube, ensuring accurate thermal profiling during experiments.

Key Features

  • Maximum temperature of 1200°C with continuous operation up to 1100°C and heating rate up to 10°C/min.
  • PID temperature controller with 30 programmable segments and ±1°C accuracy for precise thermal management.
  • Quartz processing tube (50mm OD x 43mm ID x 600mm length) with an 8-inch (200mm) heating zone and 4-inch (100mm) constant temperature zone.
  • Integrated vacuum system including KF25 vacuum flange, mechanical pump (156 L/m), vacuum gauge, and exhaust filter.
  • Insertable 1/4″ O.D. K-type thermocouple with alloy sheath for direct sample temperature calibration using a portable digital calibrator.
  • Heavy-duty steel casing with energy-efficient Al2O3 fibrous insulation for thermal stability and safety.
  • Optional upgrades available such as larger 60mm quartz tube with observation window and higher vacuum capability with turbopump and CF flange.

Typical Applications

This furnace is suited for vacuum or controlled atmosphere heat treatments such as material synthesis, annealing, sintering, and thermal calibration of samples sensitive to oxidation or contamination. It is commonly used in research labs for semiconductor, ceramic, and chemical material processing under low pressure or inert gas flow.

Configuration & Operating Notes

The furnace includes two fibrous ceramic tube blocks to minimize heat radiation loss; these must be fully inserted before operation. Quartz blocks are available optionally for improved vacuum efficiency and cleanliness. Flange supports to prevent tube rotation can be ordered separately.

For vacuum operation, a two-stage pressure regulator is recommended on gas cylinders to limit pressure below 3 PSI for safety. The vacuum system is designed for pressures down to 1E-2 Torr; for higher vacuum (down to 10E-6 Torr), a turbopump with CF flange and specialized quartz tubes is available as an upgrade.

Gas flow rates should be limited to under 200 SCCM to avoid thermal shock to the quartz tube. The furnace can be safely operated inside a fume hood to manage exhaust gases and maintain laboratory safety.
