KSL-1700X-S-H 1700°C Hybrid Furnace with 1.7L Box and 1″ ID Alumina Tube, Programmable PID Controller
The KSL-1700X-S-H hybrid furnace is designed to meet the needs of laboratories requiring flexible high-temperature processing in a compact footprint. It combines the functionality of a 1.7-liter muffle box furnace with a 1-inch inner diameter alumina tube furnace, enabling diverse thermal treatments such as sintering, annealing, and controlled atmosphere reactions.
This furnace operates up to a maximum temperature of 1700°C, utilizing four U-shaped silicon carbide heating elements within a 120 x 120 x 120 mm chamber. The drop-down door design facilitates easy sample loading when used as a box furnace. For tube furnace applications, a 700 mm long alumina tube (40 mm outer diameter, 30 mm inner diameter) is included, along with a vacuum flange set featuring gas inlet/outlet valves, a KF25 vacuum port, and a mechanical vacuum gauge, supporting vacuum levels down to 10-5 torr with a turbo pump.

Typical Applications
This hybrid furnace is suited for advanced material research including ceramic sintering, powder processing, thin film annealing, and controlled atmosphere reactions requiring vacuum or inert gas environments. Its dual configuration supports both batch processing in the box furnace mode and continuous or flow-through experiments in the tube furnace mode.
Configuration & Operating Notes
The furnace includes the alumina tube, vacuum flange set with valves and gauge, and fibrous alumina thermal blocks for insulation. The power cable is supplied without a plug; users must install a plug suitable for their local power standards or select an optional plug accessory. To ensure longevity of the heating elements and refractory materials, it is recommended to limit heating and cooling rates to 10°C per minute or less. Minor surface cracks on refractory ceramics may develop over time and can be repaired with alumina coating. The controller features alarms for over-temperature and thermocouple failure to enhance operational safety.
